On the quest for grabbing the top spot in Group C, experienced Uruguay demonstrated a winning attitude and mentality in their 1-0 Copa America success over Chile on Monday. The 82nd-minute header by match-winner Edinson Cavani leads them to earn a clash with Peru as Chile looks ahead to Colombia.

Chile was on the way to the quarterfinals as the group winner with the match petering out for a draw until Cavani scored a late winner past Gabriel Arias eight minutes before the end in Rio de Janeiro. Their march was halted as Uruguay leapfrogs Chile and clinched the victory. At the start of the game, Chile enjoyed more of the possession in a lively opening 45 minutes, in front of a sea of Red and kept Uruguay goalkeeper Fernando Muslera busy.

Uruguay- the first nation to play 200 Copa America matches- desperately needed a hero in front of a pro-Chile crowd and Cavani stepped up just in time. Oscar Tabarez- who became the ever head coach to reach 200 games in charge of the same nation made some changes during the second part of the game but both the teams felt disjointed.

Against the wind of the play, Chile was stunned by Uruguay as Cavani popped up and directed a Jonathan Rodriguez cross into the net.
