Chelsea has confirmed the signing of Moroccan sensation Hakim Ziyech from Ajax. The talented attacker will move to the London club in the summer. Ajax also made an announcement through their social media handles.

The blues fans welcome the news with great enthusiasm as they were desperately waiting for signings in the entire month of January. Although he will join the ranks next season, Ziyech comes as a welcome addition providing crucial re-enforcement in the attacking area. The 26-year-old possesses awareness on the ball, is technically capable of executing very difficult passes to break down compact defenses, and is also a set-piece specialist, particularly with vicious inswingers from the right side. He has been a prolific scorer throughout his career, with over 100 goals for club and country.

Yesterday Ajax manager Erik ten Hag all but confirmed Ziyech’s potential move to Chelsea, admitting that he was surprised the club was able to keep hold of the attacker as long as they did. He had said, “Ziyech to Chelsea? A transfer was coming, we expected it to happen. And I actually already expected this one or two years earlier. And each time it was: ‘Wow, he stayed again’. We are just happy that we will still have him until the end of the season.”

Following Ajax’s run to the Champions League semi-finals last season, Ziyech was one of several stars expected to depart the club this past summer. In the end, Frenkie de Jong and Matthijs de Ligt were sold to Barcelona and Juventus respectively for massive sums on the heels of their breakout campaigns. Frank Lampard would sure cherish adding a different dimension to a midfield that has been described as one-dimensional and lacking in creativity. Do you think the Ajax wonder kind will do well in the Premier League?
