Just as when Ajax believed of seeing the Champions League final clash against Liverpool, they were stunned and silenced by the Spurs who scored and found a way to 3-2 semi-final victory.

As Tottenham fought their way back with courage and determination, the hat-trick by Lucas Moura did the job sending Ajax away and securing their win just as they eliminated Manchester City in the quarter-finals.

Spurs looked dead and finished when Ziyech’s outstanding first-time finish after a cutback by Tadic made it to 3-0 on aggregate before half-time. Moura was an inspiration producing three clinical finishes and became the fifth player to score a Champions-League semi-final hat trick and first since Cristiano Ronaldo in May 2017 for Real Madrid.

Mauricio Pochettino called his players “superheroes” who said,” The emotion is amazing, thank you to football. My players are heroes- in the last year; I was telling everyone that these groups are heroes. The second half they were amazing.

“We were before the game that when you work and when you feel the love, it does not stress it’s the passion of the team.

“They are all heroes but Lucas was a superhero.”
