US President Donald Trump presented legendary golfer Tiger Woods with the Presidential Medal of Freedom in the White House Garden on Monday, calling the champion golfer “a golden symbol of American excellence, devotion, and drive”.

The medal- which is the highest civilian honor- was announced after Woods won the Masters Tournament on April 2019. According to the White House, this honor is given to people who show “an especially meritorious contribution to the security or national interests of the United States, world peace, cultural or other significant public or private endeavors.”

President Trump congratulated Woods on his amazing comeback and his amazing life and giving sports fans a lifetime of memories. “We can’t wait to see what next, Tiger”, said Trump who has been friends with Tiger long before he took the Oath of Office.

Trump played with Woods at the president’s golf club in Florida also referred to Woods as “a true legend, an extraordinary athlete who has transformed golf and achieved new levels of dominance.”

Tiger Woods is the fourth golfer to receive the Medal of Freedom.
