Suresh Raina underwent knee surgery on Friday and he will be out of action for the initial phase of India’s upcoming domestic season as he is asked to take rest for the next 4-6 weeks.

Out of favor India batsman who was seen last features in India’s One-day International series against England in 2018, had a consistent knee-problem since last season for which he had undergone the surgery in Amsterdam.

“Mr. Suresh Raina went through a surgery for his knee where he is been facing discomfort for the last few months. The surgery has been successful and it will require him 4-6 weeks of rehab for recovery,” his Dutch surgeon Dr. H Van der Hoeven said.

The 32-year-old left-hander has played 18 Tests, 226 ODIs for India amassing 768 and 5615 runs respectively and he has been featured in 78 T20Is games where he gathered 1605 runs.

Raina was last seen in action during the 2019 IPL where he scored 383 runs in 17 matches for Chennai Super Kings and he managed to score three half-centuries.
