Former World Player of the Year and ex-Barcelona striker Ronaldinho was prohibited by a court in Southern Brazil to sell 57 of his real estate properties due to unpaid environment fines and other debts which were reported by a Brazil newspaper on Monday.

The Folha de S.Paulo paper reported that the Brazilian football star owes 9.5 million reais ($2.51 million) as environment fines which are due after illegally building a pier at his lake house in Porto Alegre.

It was also reported that creditors have also taken action to recover 7.8 million reais in other debts and also authorities have confiscated Ronaldinho’s passport until all these cases are solved.

Since the case fell under judicial secrecy rules, the judge will not confirm or deny any of the news reported till now and even the player’s lawyers failed to respond to the details.

After spells with the host clubs in Brazil and Europe, Ronaldinho retired from the game in 2015. The 39-year-old was twice voted FIFA player of the year and won the 2002 Football World Cup with Brazil.
