The Premier League title looks like the title race between the two giants as Liverpool and Manchester City, the top two collected contrasting home wins on Wednesday and the third-placed Tottenham fell to a second straight defeat.

Just when the credentials of the club Liverpool was in doubt, they delivered the biggest victory of the season: A 5-0 thrashing of Watford at Anfield. Meanwhile, champions Manchester City claimed a narrow win of 1-0 over West Ham United and Tottenham’s 2-0 defeat at Chelsea left them crashing down 9 points off the top, needing a remarkable U-turn to fill up the gap.

Although 10 games are remaining, Tottenham’s title race is likely to be over and they meet with Arsenal in the North London derby on Saturday at the Spur’s temporary home of Wembley Stadium.

Sadio Mane and Virgil van Dijk both struck twice for Liverpool as Jurgen Klopp’s men calmed fears over their staying power when they chase down their first top-flight title since 1990.

City needed a penalty converted by Sergio Aguero in the 59th minute to overcome the highly disciplined West Ham and staying a point adrift of Klopp’s side in the table.
