Nick Kyrgios added another chapter to his colorful or off-color career on Thursday when he was defaulted from his second round Italian Open clash against Norway’s Casper Ruud after the hot-headed Australian hurled a chair on to the court.

Kyrgios was in the third and deciding set against Casper when he was disturbed by the spectators moving in the stands, particularly during his service motion. He then complained to the officials and loudly to his own coaching team which caused penalty for unsportsmanlike conduct.

This event was counted as his third code violation act which means he forfeited a game and earlier he was penalized first for ball abuse and then another for unsportsmanlike behavior which caused him to lose a point.

The game penalty led the player to go on a tirade where he spiked his racket, kicked a water bottle and threw the chair into the middle of the court.

The frustrated 24-year-old packed up to leave as his official disqualification was announced. A few hours later in an Instagram post, Kyrgios wrote, “Emotions got the better of me and I just wanted to say that the atmosphere was crazy out there today, just super unfortunate that it had to end in default. Sorry Roma, see you again, maybe.”
