The USWNT won a thrilling back-and-forth game against Australia on Thursday as forward Alex Morgan reached a personal milestone with her 100th international goal.

In opening the scoring in the 15th minute with a superb solo run with a fine finish, Morgan became the seventh American woman and 17th from all over the world to reach the century mark.

While the first half of the game was considerably even for both the team, the second half, at first looked bleak for USWNT. After wasting a couple of chances in the first half and conceding a goal within the starting minutes of the next half, the US was down to 2-1. This might have triggered the energy to wake up for them.

Tobin Heath responded well to the alarm and smashing a header in the 53rd minute brought her team level and resurrects the USWNT offense.

Megan Rapinoe’s been the next turn and with a stunner kick into the corner, wrote her name into the score sheet. Shortly replacement Pugh scored with her second touch to give the US a two-goal lead and then scored another chip to cap the game off.
