Time has the ability to help you move on from the past, only if you wish to move on. Well, that definitely doesn’t go well with Padmashri recipient and former Indian cricketer Gautam Gambhir, who in his life won’t stop taking a dig on India’s current skipper Virat Kohli. Recently in an interview with Star Sports’ analysis show Game Plan, Gambhir shared his views on why one shouldn’t compare Virat’s captaincy with Rohit Sharma’s or MS Dhoni’s as both the captains have won three titles so far for their respective teams Mumbai Indians and Chennai Super Kings.
He continued to say that Kohli should thank Royal Challengers Bangalore for constantly retaining him every season despite very performances from the team and the skipper as well.
“I don’t see him (Kohli) as a shrewd captain or a tactful captain. And he hasn’t won the IPL. So ultimately a captain is only as good as his record till the time you don’t win the IPL,” Gambhir said on the show.
Gambhir, who is the leading run scorer for Kolkata Knight Riders and in the year 2012 and 2014, KKR won the IPL title under Gambhir’s captaincy. Whereas Kohli’s captaincy didn’t spark a single win in the IPL journey so far. But this doesn’t make Kohli a bad captain as India won an overseas Test and ODI series in Australia, SA, and NZ under the captaincy of Virat Kohli.
Indeed experience speaks louder but achievements can somewhere shut the experience and given a bad team even MS Dhoni might fail to claim a victory.
