Dhoni fans have been going gaga waiting for his news about his future in cricket since he concluded in the ICC World Cup Of 2019. The rumours have kept everyone engaged and curious about the decisions that would be taken.  Legendary Indian cricketer, Kapil Dev has put forward his opinion on this topic saying that the chances of Dhoni’s return on the field are negligible after a sabbatical.

The Semi-final defeat in the ICC World Cup has been hard on Dhoni and he hasn’t made an appearance since then in any provided format of cricket. But sources confirm the news of his on-field comeback in the upcoming season of IPL with Chennai Super Kings. Apart from his conduct in IPL, everyone is interested to know whether it will pave way for him to make it to the ICC T20 World Cup squad.

Kapil Dev has made the statement relating to Dhoni’s comeback because of his absence of 6-7 months had made people bound to doubt his return to don the Indian team jersey again.

“If you haven’t played cricket for so long then I don’t think you can come back from anywhere. But he still has IPL, his form there’ll be important and selectors should see what is best for the country. Dhoni has done a lot for the country but when you don’t play for 6-7 months, you leave a doubt in everyone’s mind. And then that creates a lot of discussions which shouldn’t happen,” the 1983 World Cup-winning Indian captain said.

Speculations rose when BCCI announced its central contract and Dhoni’s name was no where to be seen. The reason behind this was again him not playing a single game in the present cricketing season. This indirectly made people conclude that Ranchi Born cricketer has taken an Unofficial Retirement. But fans are not giving up their hopes to see the legends return for the T20 World Cup.

When discussed with the current Indian Head Coach, Ravi Shastri, he denied to rule out a return but was quick to emphasize on the point that the entire subject depends on how soon Dhoni commences to play cricket again. As for the fans are concerned, all eyes are on the 13th edition of the IPL where an upright performance for CSK could see Dhoni being drafted in India’s squad for the T20 World Cup in Australia.
