India and Sri Lanka are underway in a three-match T20I series. India rounded off 2022 with a win in Bangladesh on Christmas and is now all geared up for the new upcoming challenges. Rohit S. is sidelined due to his thumb injury from this T20I series with Hardik P. taking on the reins of the young team.

With most of the senior players out rested there will be opportunities for the young players to make their mark on the team. Here we take a look at 5 such young players who are expected to make an impact in the ongoing T20I home series vs Sri Lanka.

1. Ishan K.

Ishan K. is a left-handed opening batter from Jharkhand. He has been in and out of the Indian team due to the prominent Indian players making their stay at the top. Namely, the likes of KL Rahul and Rohit S. are the ones who open for India but in the wake of adding strength to India’s top order, Ishan K. is the name now echoing to start for India. Ishan has been performing well in the Indian League as well which indicates that he is no stranger to pressure situations and can cope on the international stage as well.

2. Deepak H.

India has been searching for one such batter who can play in deep with an approach of being fearless and who packs a punch. Deepak H. falls right under that category, the all-rounder has been brewing some amazing knocks at the Indian League stages and when given an opportunity in the Indian team he has come out with positive results. The Sri Lanka series is a launch pad that will surely indicate the clarity of Hooda’s role in the Indian team.

3. Shivam M.

Shivam M. already had a blistering debut in the first T20I game at Wankhede picking up 4 wickets to his name. Not only that he was on his game when the team needed him the most. 30 wickets in 32 Indian League games he has played so far is surely only a glimpse of what this talented pacer can bring to the table. Considering that captain Hardik P. will use the true potential of all the young players Mavi will certainly be able to shine.

4. Umran M.

Umran M. is a gem of a pace bowler hailing from the Jammu & Kashmir region. Long has been the Indian cricket team deprived of a pacer who can zip the ball across the pitch. Well, they won’t have to look further now with Umran M. rising in the scene. Having already proved his pace at the Indian League stage perhaps he needs more conditioning and technical prowess to reach the highest level.

5. Shubman G.

Another player who has been landing punches above his weight is Shubman. Having featured in the Gujarat team winning the Indian League Gill’s graph of success is on an upward trend. Moreover, in the recently concluded Test series, Gill hit his maiden Test century. With Rahul misfiring, and captain Rohit struggling with injuries someone has to take up the charge to open India’s batting and without a shadow of a doubt Gill is the perfect individual in that regard.

Do keep in mind that all these players mentioned above can also be used in your fantasy cricket team. Now that the regular starters and experienced players are rested it is time that you carefully pick them into your fantasy team. To level this up you can go on appointing either of them as the pick of captains as they are going to deliver for India in the home conditions.
