The Champion of Tennis World stated about having thoughts related to skipping the US open and getting his base strong for French Open.

The player from Serbia while stating to the broadcasters mentioned about expecting the extreme restrictions for the Grand Slam tournament in New York because of the ongoing Coronavirus Pandemic.

“Most of the players I have talked to were quite negative on whether they would go there. For me currently, as things stand, most probably the season will continue on clay at the beginning of September,” specified Djokovic.

Lately, we have been hearing news of all the sports that will be getting revived after a prolonged hiatus which also includes Tennis along with other sports and all blame goes to this pandemic. According to the sources the sanctioned tournaments have been abandoned till at least July end.

The pandemic has been responsible for delay in the schedule of tournaments like French Open which was supposed to end in last weekend but is now slated in September. And Wimbledon was cancelled for the first time since 1945.

In the later week, the U.S. Tennis Association might make a concrete decision about the schedule of U.S. Open. Main-draw play is listed to begin Aug 31.

If that tournament is played, possible safety measures that Djokovic said he wouldn’t be glad about would be :

-a 14 day quarantine required for people arriving from outside of the U.S.

-restricted access to courts, which he said means players” wouldn’t be able to train.”

-a limit of one person per competitor at matches, instead of the larger entourages some players travel with.

-limited ability to move around New York, including keeping players at hotels near the tournament site in Queens and not letting them go to Manhattan.

“ Quite extreme conditions for playing,” Djokovic said,” I don’t think that is sustainable.”
