India ends day one of the Sydney Test with Cheteshwar Pujara’s third century of the series to accumulate a score of 303/4. The dominant play of the day gives them the edge on the opening day of the fourth and final test against Australia.

Pujara was unbeaten on 130 runs off 250 balls that bloated his series tally to 1135 balls faced and scored a massive 458 runs which is his career best in a series.

Virat Kohli won the toss and chose to bat first which resulted in one of the most productive days with the bat for the team this season. Opener Mayank  Agarwal gave India a flying start with a fearless 112-ball 77.

As for Australia, Josh Hazelwood claimed two wickets while Mitchell Starc and Nathan Lyon took a wicket each keeping KL Rahul, Agarwal, Virat Kohli, and Ajinkya Rahane at bay. But despite the hard toil on a hot Sydney day, Cheteshwar Pujara remained elusive on the ground.

“He (Pujara) is a class player. We just have to hold our patience longer than him and we haven’t done that so far”, commented Hazlewood about Pujara who was regarded as an immovable object occupying the crease with minimal fuss and maximum effect.
