BARCELONA:

Needless to say, Barcelona has been able to get themselves back on the track especially after Saturday’s 3-1 win over Rayo Vallecano that has drifted Barca on the top of the La Liga table with a margin of seven points. With La Liga campaign provided some relief, Barcelona will have to struggle to secure their spot on the semi-finals. This might be challenging against Lyon as the reverse fixture had them poised into a goalless draw in the first leg last month. This would be crucial for the Spanish Giants as they haven’t won the competition since 2015 and were knocked out of the quarter-final stage in each of the last three seasons. Last year, they managed to dismantle Chelsea 4-1 at this stage and had a close 6-5 win against Paris Saint-Germain. In the beginning stages, Ernesto’s side drew four of their five matches which raised questions on their performance. They managed an away win against Sevilla in the league and then went on to win back to back over Real Madrid in the Copa Del Rey and La Liga. Ernesto’s side posses the potential to turn crucial games into their favor.

Probable Line-ups: Ter Stegen; Roberto, Piqué, Umtiti, Alba; Rakitic, Busquets, Arthur; Messi, Suárez, Coutinho (in absence of Dembélé).

LYON:

While Lyon is the debutant in the knockout round of the Champions League in the seven seasons. Although they won the first three yet lost five of their last six encounters at this stage. They started off their campaign with a 2-1 win over Manchester City but drew each of their next five, which was enough to secure the second spot in the section with eight points. Certainly, this is itself a big achievement for Lyon to reach so far and they do have the potential to become a threat to the coming conflicts. Their form has been mixed since the first leg, though, losing against Monaco and drawing with Strasbourg in Ligue 1, but they did beat Caen 3-1 in the Coupe de France before putting five past Toulouse in the league earlier this month. To pace, they have to put their near-perfect performance that involves more crisps attacks that might help them dominate the game against the likes of Barcelona.

Probable Line-ups: Lopes; Dubois, Marcelo, Denayer, Mendy; Ndombele, Aouar, Tousart; Fekir, Dembele, Depay.
