Australian batsman Shaun Marsh is ruled out from World Cup squad at this crucial point of tournament where Australia is going to play most important matches, perhaps of their life time, since qualifiers are around the corner.

The Australian left-hander will be replaced by likes of Peter Handscomb who missed the chance to play by an inch. 35-year-old got hit on his fore-arm by pacer Pat Cummins during net practice and the scan revealed a fracture, later on.

Injuries like these kinds take some time to recover and he will be undergoing a surgery afterward. And this has proved to be a mighty blow and he will be highly missed by his teammates. Apart from this, one more setback Australians have faced is Glen Maxwell, he is been injured by another deadly pacer of kangaroos; Mitchel Starc. But luckily his blow is not that deadly and team management will take a late call to play him or not for at least the remaining one round-robin match. Australians are hopeful that he is fine and he will be kept under observation for a few days.

Handscomb was in very good touch earlier this year with the highlight being a century against India, but Smith and Warner returning to the side overshadowed his presence and was dropped since management preferred Alex Carey over him as a wicket-keeper batsman but now luck has favored him, at least he is in the World Cup squad now. And if his stars get aligned, he might get an opportunity in semi-finals against New Zealand or England depending upon the match against South Africa tomorrow.
