India shooting ace Apurvi Chandela achieved a new milestone in her career on Wednesday as she became the World No 1in women’s 10m air rifle event according to the latest ranking released by International Shooting Sport Federation (ISSF).

The decorated Indian shooter had been in food form recently and in February shot a world record score of 252.9 points to win gold at the International Shooting World Cup this year after her bronze at the Asian Games last year at the 10m Mixed Rifle event.

The shooting star from Jaipur has already secured 2020 Olympics quotas for the country and she took to Twitter to share the joy by making the announcement saying, “World Number 1. Touched a milestone in my shooting career.”

Anjum Moudgil rose to number two after her consistent performance in recent years as she won silver at the World Championship last year and secured her place for the Tokyo Olympics.

Manu Bhaker became the World No 10 in 25m Pistol Women category and Divyansh Singh Panwar’s World Cup exploits in Beijing secured him a World No 4 spot in 10m air rifle mixed team and ticket to Tokyo Olympics.
